Hi there! My name is Scott Gasch and this is my homepage. What do you want to know about me anyway?

I live in Bellevue, WA USA and have been retired since 2023. Prior to that I worked in "big tech" as a software engineer and engineering manager.

I'm married to a wonderful woman named Lynn and we have a son named Alex.

What do I do with my time? Sad to say but I still like to write code. You non-geek readers may find this a little strange but I like messing with computers so much that I do as a hobby even when no one is paying me... but, alas, it's true. I've written an International Master strength chess playing program called typhoon along with some other miscellaneous tools you can check out.

I also like to hike and, in the winter, to ski (downhill), mostly at Stevens Pass, WA. Pretty much anytime I like to take photos... feel free to browse in my online photo album. Since retiring I've also had more time to travel; Lynn and I spend a couple of months in France, Spain and Portugal these last couple of years. Here's another page about some of my other hobbies.

Before I moved near Seattle, Washington I lived in Blacksburg, Virginia and Middletown, New Jersey. I was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan and spent some time in Buffalo Grove, Illinois, too. My first computer was an HP-75C (if you can call that a computer, more like an oversized calculator). My Mom and Dad live in Toms River, NJ. My sister Karen lives also in NJ with her son, Daniel.
